Hollywood agency UTA — which reps stars like Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp — has signed Chinese contemporary artist and activist Ai Weiwei.

The deal was struck by UTA’s Fine Arts division, which launched last year and is headed by lawyer Josh Roth. UTA will now help set up distribution for the artist’s upcoming doc, “The Human Flow,” out next year.

A group of animal-head sculptures by hot artist Weiwei sold last year at a London auction for $4.3 million, before a larger set in the same series went for nearly $5 million.
