Talking Art is a quick artist interview. We ask Imogen Appleton 5 questions to help you get to know her and her art. Please contact the artist directly regarding their work.
Let our readers know who you are, where you are from and what kind of art you create?
My name is Imogen Appleton and I’m from the UK. I recently finished my degree in Game Art Design at De Montfort University. Since finishing my course I’ve been focusing on digital portrait paintings as it’s something I’ve always enjoyed doing.
What is your favourite piece of art that you have done?
My favourite painting is probably my most recent one. I’ve been trying to paint in a much looser approach than usual and just trying to have fun with what I’m doing and I’m really pleased with the results.
Show & Tell us about your workspace and the tools you use. (brushes, charcoal, steel, lasers?)
All of my paintings are done digitally on my laptop, using a Wacom Intuos Small tablet and Adobe Photoshop. Though I hope to soon start broadening my tools and learning how to paint in acrylics and watercolour.
What are you working on right now?
Right now I’m working on another portrait, I’m still playing around with painting techniques and just trying to have fun with it. This painting is definitely in the early stages.
What is your favourite piece of art from another artist?
My favourite piece of art currently is Serene by Sam Gushue, I’ve been following her online for a while and I absolutely love her style of painting!
