Radiating a latent violence, Tara Sharpe’s work complicates perceptions of beauty and myth. Layered and saturated colors combine with extraordinary interpretations of shape and scale to form a simultaneously empowering and erotic experience.
Tara Sharpe was born in West Palm Beach, Florida where she graduated from Dreyfoos School of the Arts. Receiving a full scholarship for a Fine Art Residency Program at SVA confirmed her dream of moving to New York after graduation. After living in New York City for over a decade, Sharpe relocated to Arizona where she directs ARTELSHOW, curates and paints. In her personal work she is most influenced by Post-Impressionism, Expressionism, Belle Epoque and Secessionism.
Sharpe’s work has been seen in galleries and exhibitions in Arizona, Florida, Michigan and New York. Private Collections include Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
